In case there was any doubt that Spring has sprung or that Summer is just around the corner, in comes Inman Park Festival. Every year this is the event that we consider to be the kickoff for warm weather fun. Shorts and dresses come out, sunglasses go on, and flip flops make their debut. (Ahem…need a pedi? Make an appointment at BUFF.)
Here’s a quick run down of the festival’s events:
- Parade is on Saturday, April 26th at 2PM
- The market will be open on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th from 11AM-6PM
- The 43rd Annual Tour of Homes runs Friday from 12PM-4PM and Saturday & Sunday from 12PM-6PM.
Samantha Boyum is a NC native who is passionate about cats, special effects make up and art. She spends her free time hanging with friends, drawing and Larping. She’s our junior nail tech and she loves creating custom nail art for clients.
Things you would save in a fire: My cat Skittles, of course.
Ideal Vacation: Australia
Dream Job: Special effects make up artist
Favorite Meal: Mac and cheese
When she’s not making us laugh hysterically on her blog Witty + Pretty, Ashley Hesseltine can be found around town at the most exclusive events (like hanging with our girl Kim Zolciak) and scoping out the newest beauty services and trends. Keep reading to find out more about this super smart lady who loves a good BUFF mani.
Occupation: Freelance writer, occasional standup comedian, founder/editor of Witty + Pretty
Favorite/Most Regular Service at WAX/BUFF: A fun/trendy mani. I give the nail gurus free rein and am always impressed.
How Would You Describe Your Personal Style: Comfortable (but not frumpy). In the summer, I want to wear a maxi dress or flowy pants and a crochet top every day. I do love getting dressed up for special occasions, but honestly, I wear workout clothes whenever possible.
Who Is Your Style Icon: Diane Von Furstenberg, Kate Moss, Kate Hudson
One Item Of Clothing or Beauty Product You Can’t Live Without: Origins Make a Difference Plus+ ultra-rich rejuvenating cream (the best I’ve found for my dry skin) and my Harry Josh hair dryer. For clothing, my Elizabeth and James fur vest and G-Star Raw skinny (read: magic) jeans. Oops, that was more than one.
What Can We Catch You Doing on a Saturday Night? Either out with my girlfriends (preferably on Edgewood), or on the couch with my dog (did I just admit that?).
Favorite Musician: Of all time, Tom Petty. Of late, Sam Smith.
Cocktail of Choice: Vodka soda with a splash of grapefruit juice.
Best Place For Dinner in Atlanta: I could never pick just one place! I always love the scene at Barcelona (and the meatballs). JCT and Antico never disappoint. And St. Cecilia is one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.
Favorite Part of the WAX/BUFF Experience: How talented and creative the nail artists are. And the cleanliness/sanitary factor. We all know there are a lot of salons out there that are a little scary in that department.
Favorite Product Available at WAX: RGB nail polishes.
It’s time to report for duty, springtime soilder. Brazilian Bootcamp is back for the month of April and we’re offering a deal that’s really too good to be true: our Brazilian Waxing Package (3) for only $150.

We love any chance we can get to help spread the word about what’s the latest in beauty, so we were thrilled when Better Mornings Atlanta asked us to stop by to share some of our nail and make-up trends for spring. In case you missed it, here are what the ladies of WAX and BUFF are loving this season:
- Nails and makeup in Pantone’s Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid
- Nail wraps and cuticle tattoos
- Nudes, corals, metallics, greens, and turquoises for pedicures
- Full brows with perfect highlighting
When Central Atlanta Progress announced that they would be activating a large portion of unoccupied retail space along the new Streetcar route, we crossed our fingers for something amazing and they certainly didn’t dissapoint. The Pop-Up Retail Program will give local brands and organizations a chance to have a pop-up shop in different areas of downtown for beginning June 1st-August 31st, 2014.
In anticipation, this weekend will be a sneak peek at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market of the vendors who will have their own pop-up. From 1-4PM on Saturday, March 29th, the Indie Craft Experience will set up a local craft market and attendees will have a chance to learn more about the pop-ups and the Central Atlanta Progress development.
Other pop-ups you can expect to see in the Pop-Up Retail Program this summer: Arbitrary Living, Plywood People, Just Add Honey Tea Company, Brixtix Bakery for Dogs, Indie Craft Experience, and more! Check out the full line up here.
We like to think of ourselves as daredevils when it comes to style, but we wouldn’t exactly be the first person to hop out of an airplane or jump onto the back of motorcycle or into a speeding car. We might not be your average thrill seekers, but that doesn’t mean we can’t totally love Red Bull’s Illume photography exhibit happening in Piedmont Park.
The photography exhibit is dedicated to action and adventure sports and only takes palce after sunset – there will be 25 illuminated light boxes throughout the park of curated photos that were selected as a part of a competition. The exhibition runs from March 20th – 30th, 2014 from sunset to 11PM and is totally free.
There’s really nothing hotter than a funny lady, except for maybe a funny lady with killer brows and a gorgeous mani. Lucky for us, Chelsea Handler is coming to town and is both seriously funny with a great set of brows (we’re banking that her nails will be on point at her show as well). Her tour stops at The Fabulous Fox Theatre this Saturday, March 15th
Chelsea’s tour, Uganda Be Kidding Me Live, will hopefully highlight some of her hilarious travel stories as told through her latest book release by the same title. The one thing we’re looking forward to is having our sides hurt from laughing so hard – that counts as a workout, right?
Lately we’ve been dreaming about the beach and easy summer living, so we couldn’t be more excited for this weekend: temperatures above 60 and Lure’s Oyster Roast this Saturday March, 8 from 1PM-3PM. Midtown’s own seafood aficionado is giving us a reason to sip on some cold ones while we throw back as many oysters as we can handle. We also hear that there will be hush puppies and cole slaw…it just keeps getting better.
