Product Review: 100% Pure Sea Therapy Bath Salts

We have recently added 100% Pure‘s therapeutic bath salts to our selection of body care products, and all we can say is:  Why didn’t we carry this sooner?!

It comes in two scents:  Lavender and Eucalyptus; perfect for a refreshing spring time soak.  Bath salts are great for many health reasons, however, this is not your ordinary salt soak…

100% Pure Sea Therapy is derived from crystalized kelp that is cultivated from an organic seaweed farm off the Brittany coast of France.  This highly detoxifying bath is perfect for improving body circulation and eliminating unwanted toxins.  In a world full of environmental pollutants and food that can be nutritionally deficient, this is a great way to flush out the bad and absorb some much needed minerals.

But that’s not all!  Due to the vitamin K content, taking a bath with these crystalized sea greens with help balance your body chemistry without dehydrating it, and it will help restore hormonal balance for a more youthful body.  It’s perfect for softening the skin and even aids in the elimination of bruises and dry, rough patches of skin.

With over 60 different minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and amino acids that replenish, nourish, detox and heal, how could we NOT add sea salt soaks to our weekly beauty and health regime?  If you’ve been looking for an excuse to add bath time to your busy schedule, here’s your opportunity.  Take your pick of either soothing lavender or revitalizing eucalyptus.  Although, it may be hard to pick just one…

Leela Loves Fancy Toothpaste

Let me first start by stating that I am NOT a product junkie.  Don’t get me wrong, I love great beauty products (I have definitely been known to drop $200 at Sephora, no problem), but these days, every penny counts.  When it comes to buying make-up, body care products, or even something like toothpaste… I’m squeezing it’s little tubey neck for every last drop!

For the past month and a half, I’ve been doing some testing on a couple of different toothpastes, and let me tell you….it has really sparked a toothpaste enthusiast inside of me that I never even knew existed!  Along my paste testing journey, I’ve also been using the toothbrush from Acca Kappa’s BIOCETA line:  made from a biodegradable material derived from cotton, and boar hair for the bristles.  Love it!

First up is Couto toothpaste: Efficacy: A+  Taste:  B+  Design:  A+ Price:  $8.00

Originally created in 1932 by a Portuguese pharmacist who was looking to treat the overwhelming amount of gingivitis cases around him, this great toothpaste hasn’t changed much since it’s earlier days.  It’s vegan, made without creepy ingredients, and tastes…… like licorice.  While I did enjoy how clean my mouth felt while using this toothpaste, I am not a huge fan of fennel flavoring.  This would be my only criticism, but that’s just my personal taste!

Next up is Marvis toothpaste:  Efficacy:  A+  Taste:  A+  Design A+  Price:  $10.50

Imported from Florence, Italy, this little gem has somehow gotten me wrapped around it’s….uh, tube?  Not only is it amazing to use and covers all the dental hygiene, tooth and gum care elements, but it comes in awesome flavors.  Ginger mint?  Are you kidding me??  Not to mention, it’s beautifully packaged and looks amazing on my sink.  I’ve even kept the box….

For $10.50, you might think that’s over the top for toothpaste.  Even for a non-junkie like myself, I may have to agree with you a smidge.  But really, isn’t it worth it to have a super effective toothpaste that makes your mouth feel like it’s relaxing in a day spa in Florence, Italy for a few minutes, twice a day?  My mouth says ‘yes please!’.

Free of paraben, phthalate, and petroleum & not tested on animals; they’re non greasy and available in 6 amazing scents. They’ve been flying off the shelves….my personal favorite – green tea!

Something for our other…ahem…lips…

If you’re like us you are always on the search for that perfect nude lipstick. You know the kind that makes it look like you’re not really wearing anything at all but still gives you shine and moisture while somehow managing to make your teeth look whiter and distract from your undereye circles?

We’ve found it. We can credit Tom Ford with bringing sexy back, inducing crushes amongst straight and gay men and making thigh high boots acceptable day wear…and now we can credit him with taking us back to the glamour and sophistication of lipstick. Gone are the days when a quick swipe of gloss was enough – this Fall is all about the lip and the high-gloss, sticky lipgloss just won’t cut it. The exotic ingredients like soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil makes for an incredibly smooth application. Ladylike sophistication is on the rise and what’s more sophisticated then pulling out your compact and a sleek tube of lipstick to freshen up. Pricey at $45 a tube…but hey, can you really put a price on beauty?

Available at Neiman Marcus.

Where did you get that wallpaper?

We often get asked about our wallpaper in the studio. Finally wallpaper is making a comeback and I for one am super excited! I LOVE wallpaper and think it’s a great way to add a design element to any room. In my former life as a stylist I would use it to line the back of a bookcase or even frame it for a one of a kind piece of art. The possibilities are endless. There’s a ton of modern wallpapers out there these days, but the lines featured in the studio are two of my favorites.

In our waxing rooms we have wallpaper designed by Biba founder and fashionista extrodinaire Barbara Hulanicki. The wallpaper in the bathroom is by Ferm Living.
