The ladies were booked solid (they are the best) and I had an event to attend where my legs were going to be exposed. By this point the hair on my legs was so long it was embarrassing. I’ll spare you the photos but suffice it to say that I would NOT have been representing WAX well.
So I decided to wax my own legs. Easy, right? I propped my leg up and applied the wax in one smooth motion. So far, so good I thought and then my shirtsleeve promptly got stuck in the wax. Note to self – long sleeves while waxing legs not advised. Second strip was better – I started to get in a rhythm – apply, smooth down strip, hesitate to build up courage and then pull. Cue string of expletives because let me tell you, waxing yourself hurts more than having someone else wax you. Misty poked her head in to observe and laugh. In that order.
I continued on and decided that since I was on such a roll I should go ahead make an attempt at my bikini line. All I can say is that there is a reason why you lay down while getting that area waxed. Standing up and craning my neck to get a good view of the area left me with a tension headache and blurry vision. I stopped after one side since that part of my body would not be on display that night. Bummer.
In the end I ended up with the following: hairless fronts of my lower legs (who can reach the back??), a bikini line that resembled a mountain range and a stiff neck. I learned my lesson and have scheduled myself in for the next 6 months of appointments. Including today. Someone has to even me out and it sure as hell ain’t gonna be me.
We realize that you are a very busy man…. but the ladies at WAX have just a few more things to add to your list! Nothing too major, merely the essentials! We’ve compiled our lists for you to go over, and as you already know, we’ve all been very good girls this year (and we SWEAR we’re going to keep up with yoga at RAW in 2012).
xoxo- WAX

Originally from Russia, Roza graduated from the International School of Skin and Nail Care in 1999 and has been on a skin care journey ever since. Gaining experience in many realms of the industry, her areas of expertise include: management, training, and image consulting. However, her specialty continues to remain in the practice of hair removal. While she is very passionate about waxing, she believes a true hair removal specialist should not only be able to remove the hair with proper technique, but also educate the client on proper skin and hair health. When she’s not at WAX, you can find Roza running, fishing, or exploring the outdoors, but when it’s time to unwind, she’s all about dinner and a movie.

Team Edward or Team Jacob? Team Jacob. He would be a good wax client ;)
Your spirit animal and why? Panther because I love black, they have body flexibility, and they are a very proud animal.
Dream Job: Other than what I do now, I would love to be a private investigator, and/or specialize in infant massage.
Three things you can’t live without: Learning, sharing, and clothes!
Unfortunately some of us are more prone to them than others. The dreaded ingrown hair. Despite our best intentions they can pop up at the peskiest of times wreaking havoc on our smooth bikini line. For those of us who are prone follow these steps for a bump free bikini line:
- Don’t pick! It’s tempting to take those tweezers and dig in to try to get the hair out, but often that can lead to inflammation, damaging of the skin and sometimes infection. If the hair is close enough to the surface that you can easily remove without “digging” into the skin then go ahead. But make sure to disinfect your tweezers first!!
- If you are haunted by ingrown hairs WAX offers a special treatment post-waxing containing low-grade salicylic acid to gently start the exfoliating process.
- 48 hours after waxing begin to exfoliate using either a mechanical (loofah) or chemical (salicylic, glycolic or lactic acids) method. We recommend a combination of both typically using a “scrubby glove” in the shower and then following up with a product applied directly to the area. Right now our favorites are PFB Vanish & Ingrown X-it both of which are available at WAX. Continue to do this 2-3 times a week until your next appointment.
- Dry brushing. Done before you get in the shower it wakes you up, stimulates circulation, assists with reduction in the appearance of cellulite and exfoliates. What’s not to love? For the bikini line short strokes in an upward direction will remove any dead skin as well as lift any hair that might be trapped under the surface. Click here for a video on how to dry brush your entire body.
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Skin needs moisture to remain supple and that goes for the bikini line as well. Look for something light that won’t clog pores. Clients love our post -waxing Remedy oil – hand blended with organic oils like tea tree and lavender it moisturizes and smells great. Can be used all over.
If you follow these steps you should be able to send those ingrowns packing! Just in time for summer.
We are constantly sharing in the studio. What we did, where we went, what we ate and with whom. Amongst our fabulous waxers they share their strategies for the best wax, each and every time. What to do and what not to do. We decided to post them here – WAX’s own 10 commandments of waxing. Follow these and you will get the best experience, each and every time! Read More
