A few things we love about the month of May: Sooooo many birthday parties, summer is around the corner, and Easter candy is insanely cheap. May is always a very busy month for everyone. For WAX, May just gives us a good glimpse into our our summer ahead. So far, outlook looks GREAT! :)
Here are a few things getting Regina through her jam packed month:

1.) Cadberry egg minis: I LOVE the taste and the bite size pieces.
2.) Organic Lip Balm: I’m addicted to the smell and the way it feels on my lips.
3.) Fresh Squeezed juice from whole foods: I
love the flavors, and the fact that it is good for you is a bonus!
4.) Shelac (gel nail polish): I love that it lasts for weeks without chipping and stays shiny!
5.) Victorias Secret Very Sexy Miracle Push up bra: They feel great, and of course, I love the “boost” they give! ;)
WAX loves food. Whether it’s eating food, cooking food, or shopping at the farmers market, we love to talk about food. So, of course we had to post some of our favorite recipes in leu of Thanksgiving (the holiday of FOOD!!! and other stuff…). Have a wonderful holiday!

Gratin Dauphinois

Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie

Collard Greens

Roasted Turkey

Orange Sweet Potatoes

Pumpkin Cheesecake
This month’s “What We’re Addicted To” is coming from our very own California girl, Regina. As the weather changes, so does our monthly addictions. However, there are always some things we can’t let go of! Find out what she’s gotten herself hooked on for the month of October…….and possibly, beyond.
1.) Pumpkin Spice Latte- “I know this has made it to the addictions page twice now, but it’s just so good. It tastes great, gives me energy, and it’s the quintessential fall beverage.
2.) VS lipgloss- “I love this lipgloss because it’s long lasting and it’s pretty on anyone. It a classic look that’s good for any season.”
3.) Self Tanning Banana Boat- “No streaks, and nice color. It’s perfect for any time of the year.”
4.) Vitamin Packs- “Obviously, these are good for many reasons, but they give me energy and they’re delicious. Hopefully, they’ll help me stay healthy during flu season…”
5.) Green Tea hand cream by Soap & Paper Factory- “I love this hand cream! It smells amazing and it’s very moisturizing. Everyone needs to pick one up at the studio!”
WAX is a little divided. While natural deodorant usually means less waste, skin soothing essential oils, and no preservatives, there’s a few of us that truly prefer an anti-perspirant. Even though an all natural deodorant may be better for the earth, what about the OTHER ‘environmental impact’…. you know, the stink factor??
Since there has been much controversy over the toxicity of aluminum in anti-perspirants for the past few years, some of us would just prefer to stay on the safe side. As more research is conducted to find links between the use of heavy metals in deodorants and Alzheimer’s and breast cancer, it is yet to be proven that the aluminum and parabens have detrimental effects…. is it worth the risk?
We’ve put together a little list of some of the best brands that we’ve found, and all for different reasons. While we may not be able to provide any scientific conclusions, we can certainly tell you which ones seem to do the trick:
Myka: Vichy 48 hour Antiperspirant for Sensitive & Depilated Skin ($12 at amazon.com)
“I’ve tried the natural things and they just don’t work for me. I have a tendency to sweat a lot under my arms and I find that the natural products don’t help me in that area. This deodorant is brilliant – keeps me nice and dry (even in a silk shirt!) and because it’s hypoallergenic, alcohol-free & perfume-free it works great for freshly waxed underarms.”
Leela: La Vanilla ($18 at Sephora.com)
“I know, I know. The price point seems a little steep for a deodorant, but for me it’s totally worth it. It’s aluminum and harsh chemical free, and it keeps me fresh and dry all day long. All of the scents are based on vanilla (clearly…), which makes for a nice subtle fragrance. I love this deodorant, and $18 for a bare necessity (that works!) that will last me 3-4 months is OK in my book.”
Misty: Homemade deodorant (about $5 for one stick)
“I recently started making my own deodorant at home. My handmade deodorant is free of chemicals and preservatives, and so far, it’s been really great at keeping me fresh all day long. It doesn’t prevent sweating, which doesn’t bother me. I feel like you’re suppose to sweat. As of right now, my most favorite scents are: Lime and Basil (everyone seems to like that one the most) and Blue Camomile with Eucalyptus and Geranium.”
Regina: Suave with Olay ($4 at Target)
“When I look for a deodorant, I’m looking for one that smells good. I love Olay products, so this one is my favorite. I don’t have much of a sweating problem, but at the end of the day I might feel a little funky. This deodorant isn’t all natural, but it works for me because I really like the scent.”
A California native, Regina made the trek to Atlanta in 2007, only to later become a graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics in 2010. Regina has always had a passion for esthetics. As far back as she can remember, this California girl has always loved to beautify; whether it’s through fashion, styling, make-up, or waxing… Regina believes that the best way to take care of her WAX clients is by taking care of herself. When she’s not busy giving the best waxing experience she can to her clients, Regina enjoys spending her precious free time either reading books or playing outside with her adorable toddler, Damon (and hopefully squeezing in a massage!). She’s sweet, funny, SUPER skilled, and loves providing the immediate satisfaction of a great wax to her clients.
Childhood ambition: I wanted to be a monkey trainer…because I love them!
If you could have anyone be your personal stylist, who would it be, and why?
Kim Kardashian. I LOVE her style!
Personal skincare routine: Wash, tone, and moisturize (plus I do a mask and exfoliate weekly).
Favorite meal: Chimichanga, rice, beans, chips, salsa and a cherry coke.
Three things you can’t live without: My son, lipgloss, and water!
